Full Name: ICCS – INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SYSTEMS
The Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit Academic Research Body established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education in order to carry research and development activities in the area of telecommunications, computer systems and their application in a variety of areas.
The personnel of ICCS consists of Academic staff (~80 Professors), 20 senior researchers and more than 500 other researchers/PhD students in 20 research laboratories. ICCS is associated with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and is being supervised by the Hellenic Ministry of Education.
The ICCS group involved in VRA is the I-SENSE group which focuses among others on smart automation systems, on intelligent vehicles including sensors and information fusion, control algorithms, human machine interaction and communication technologies as well as on vehicle to grid connectivity and charging optimization strategies.
I-SENSE group is coordinating and participating in several ITS related projects of the 7th FWP like CityMobil2, TEAM, MOBiNET, MEMSCON, PowerUp, interactIVe, MiniFaros, Have-IT and of the 6th FWP like AIDE, PReVENT, SAFESPOT, etc.
VRA – Vehicle and Road Automation is a support action funded by the European Union to create a collaboration network of experts and stakeholders working on deployment of automated vehicles and its related infrastructure.
